Facebook is making public comments more meaningful

This new update will change the way that comments are seen on posts. They will rank the comments based on integrity signals through positive interactions, comments, and more. This change is meant to will combat comment spam (remember the online trolls?) and it will reward meaningful interactions.

Why It Matters

By ranking comments based on meaning, Facebook is continuing its quest to stimulate positive interactions between people on the platform. As a business, it can be a really good thing for you to have quality public comments that surface on your Page for people to see. However, it will also be important for you to interact with comments posted by others to increase interaction with feedback from fans and earn higher engagement ranking while building relationships and rapport with your followers.

Facebook Stories Tagging

Facebook is rolling out Facebook Stories tagging. When someone else tags you in an Instagram story and shares it to Facebook, their Facebook Story will link to your Page. To take advantage of this feature make sure that your Facebook Page is linked to an Instagram business or creator account.

Why It Matters

Tagging on social media platforms is one way to increase your organic exposure on the platform quickly. These new features improve the chance that you’ll know when someone else tags you in a Story, and it can increase views of your Page and posts. If you do decide that this feature of automatic Facebook Stories tagging is not for you, there is a section in the Settings menu that allows you to turn it off. However, this feature is valuable and a key asset to enable and use!

Facebook Page Information to be Removed

It has recently been announced that starting August 1, 2019, Facebook will be removing fields on your Facebook Page. Some of these fields include your company overview, biography, mission, and more.

Why It Matters

There is not a complete list of fields Facebook is removing from Pages but it is crucial to be aware of this change as you will have less information visible on your Page. As Facebook is cleaning up Pages it might be a good time to go through your own page and update your information and condense, to prepare for the changes coming in August.

Facebook Moves into Cryptocurrency: Libra and Calibra

Facebook recently announced that in 2020 they will make available Calibra. This is a financial service to participate in the Libra Network that will be accessed through WhatsApp, Messenger, and its own app. Initially, Calibra will be a wallet for your Libra blockchain currency allowing you to send Libra to almost anyone with a smartphone.

Why It Matters

It is critical to be aware of changes, especially big ones like this, as it has the possibility to change the way business is done. For example, using blockchain technology for transactions with customers or for other methods of payment in our daily lives could alter the way business is done. This is like Bitcoin, but Facebook’s own currency called Libra that you will hold in a Calibra digital wallet. This is Facebook expanding into new technology and into finance as they want to provide more tools for you to use!
